TREATMENTS

What to expect from a treatment?

SPORTS MASSAGE

Sports Massage is an essential part of any exercise regime in order for you to gain maximum results from your body. Ideally regular maintenance treatments ensure your body remains at peak performance and will identify problem areas BEFORE they result in an injury. Injuries can be very frustrating when you just want to get back to training and the faster you receive treatment the quicker the recovery rate. Treatment doesn't need to be painful as I prefer to work with your body rather than against it. Pain is there for a reason and it's my job to find out why the injury has occurred and hopefully prevent it happening again.

BACK & NECK PAIN

I specialise in Back and Neck pain and use a variety of techniques to help to restore you back to full health. I primarily use Deep Tissue Massage as this works deep into your muscles releasing them gently, as most back pain has built up over a number of years and requires firm but gentle persuasion to return back to its unrestricted state. I have had a great deal of success with sciatica in particular and this was the most common complaint that patients were referred to me, by their doctors in Devon.

THERAPEUTIC ULTRASOUND

Ultrasound therapy is used mainly to treat acute injuries and is particularly useful in the first hours or days of an injury when manual treatment can be too painful. It works uses sound waves above the human hearing range to stimulate muscles and tendons at a cellular level to stimulate their healing capacity. This brings about a reduction in inflammation and subsequently a reduction in pain.

PRE & POST EVENT MASSAGE

I have had a vast amount of experience in pre and post event massage mostly with the rugby club but I have also worked at the ironman event in Dorset and a number of running events across the southwest. It is specifically designed for the athlete to perform at their best and recover quickly after.

CORE STRENGTH & EXERCISE PRESCRIPTION

Core strength is essential to maintain a healthy body. It is particularly useful when dealing with back pain and improved core strength significantly reduces the recurrence of back pain. I use a variety of techniques including fit balls, kettle bells, and remedial exercises for you to do at home to help yourself maintain your core. After any injury exercises are essential to return you back to full fitness and prevent the injury from reoccurring.
